Nicole's hair is very STRAIGHT like mine. We like to curl it for church and she decided that she is big enough for curlers now. (She's not a fan of the curling iron.)
We bought curlers for Nicole and then I realized that a babysitter was coming that night. Hmmm. I left the curlers out for the babysitter and told her she could put them in Nicole's hair IF it sounded like fun. A lot of times when we come home, Nicole has painted nails and new hairdo's so I didn't think it would be a big deal. Sure enough, when we came home she had twenty curlers in. Tiny, tight, VERY tight curlers.
In the morning Nicole wanted us to take a picture. She was excited to show her curlers to her nursery teacher. I had to convince her that we take the curlers OUT for church.
When it was time to take them out, do you think they worked? Did her straight hair become curly?
I would say so! It was a curl explosion. (This is after I tamed it.)
Nicole was all giggly when she looked in the mirror. It was a very new look for her. She had an extra bounce in her step all day. Multiplied by a thousand bouncy curls. Bounce, bounce, bounce.
Nicole received a good response at church. People did double-takes. I did double-takes. A friend told me that she was trying to remember if Nicole's hair was naturally curly. Because curlers don't do that.
Jonathan whispered to me that he doesn't like the curls because "she doesn't even look like Nicole. She looks like somebody else wearing Nicole's clothes." Don't get me wrong, we like the curls, but we're just used to seeing her long, straight, shiny hair that compliments her features. All day she seemed like some combination between Shirley Temple and a finger in a light socket. I laughed every time I saw her. Then I had to say "You're so cute" so she wouldn't think I was laughing AT her. Right.
Nicole WAS super duper cute with her tight curls for the day. Then at bath time they all instantly washed down the drain. Jonathan gave her a hug a little later and said, "There you are, Nicole! I'm happy it's you again!"
I'm sure our curler days have just begun, and we'll get the technique down before too long. Our goal is to be curly AND Nicole, all at the same time. I think we might even have a little fun while we're at it.

Cute little girl! I love the expressions she gives the camera. LOVE the curls. And Jonathan is funny. :)
I love it! My mom used to put rags in my hair overnight and it produced about the same effect on my straight hair. She's a cutie either way!
She is adorable, but I can see why the family was a little overwhelmed with the curls. I love Jonathan's response. What a sweet brother!
So cute! I have some amazing pics of Maddie with curlers, but I haven't done it with the other girls...too much work!
Oh Jonathan makes me laugh! Good luck with those curlers...we have yet to master them with Jacey.
So fun!
We used to always curl our hair with socks. Great way to used those socks that lost their mate. :) They give a slightly looser curl but, just slightly.
Too cute! :) I was hoping you would post pics:)
Ok, those are the cutest pictures ever! She is adorable! I can't believe how well her hair holds the curls. She definately looks like her mom. Beautiful!
Woops, I should have read this post before your most recent one. =) That's what we do when we try curlers too--never have mastered it. (Tasha can do it to perfection though!) But we can tell you which of our 9 curling irons work the best! =) Allie's asked for hot curlers for Christmas--we'll have her aunts help her figure out how to master those.
