Greggy Monster

Look who turned three!

Greg's favorite line recently has been "But I'm only thwee!"  It's from Diary of a Wimpy Kid, a book that his brothers read to him. In the book, the main character has a little brother who gets into a lot of mischief and his excuse is always, "But I'm only thwee!"  Greg has figured out that he can crack us all up by using this line. Then somebody always replies: "No you're not! You're only two!" Then lots more giggles.  Now that Greg IS three, I hope he doesn't get any big ideas.

Greg's birthday was a big static day at our house (not sure why) so we had a lot of fun getting creative with balloons. Jonathan had all the balloons on the ceiling at one point, but Greg didn't think that was funny.

Time to open presents! First up: The horsey. The main thing Greg wanted for his birthday. He even got two horses so they can play together. (Because that's what horses do.)

Yes, that is a lot of noise right there. Happiness in a box. (While the baby is NOT napping.)

This picture is for future blackmail purposes.  Greg got a few pair of really cool Lego Batman underwear for his birthday. What a big boy.

I love watching our kids open presents.

And the grand finale: Cookie Monster! He eats cookies, counts cookies, and sings about cookies. The cookies fall into his little backpack, which intrigues Greg enough to test it over and over and over again. Yup, they still end up in his backpack every time.

Now on to the birthday cake. Greg helped me mix and bake the cake, and he served as the official frosting tester. He's always been my little helper. This picture makes me laugh because it took us thirty-three pictures before he was looking at the camera with a real smile. (They're all fun of course, but I was going for this.)

My favorite moment of the entire day was when Grandma was trying to get Greg to smile naturally for the camera and she asked him, "Greg, what makes you happy?"   He immediately responded:  "This:"

Sweet, sweet boy.

I hope he made a good wish!  Greg did have to blow a couple times before the flame went out. In fact he finally got it out by spitting. Grandpa called for the farthest-away piece of cake.

We love our Gregory! He adds a lot of personality to our family. He is sweet and loving and still enjoys snuggling into our laps. He has such skinny little fingers and beautiful eyes and I love it when he gets excited, because he runs around in circles. We have been amazed by how kindly he moved over and made room for his baby brother in our home. Greg is a bright boy who loves everything about life. It was fun to have a day that was all about him. Happy Birthday, Greg!
