There's no better way to celebrate spring breezes than by flying kites! This was Greg's first time and he was a natural. He stood there for along time, just watching his kite with a big smile on his face.
The perspective of a 3-year-old.
After a very long time, Greg decided he was tired and gave Zach a turn. The clouds are really cool in this picture.
I always like close-ups of Zach. Is he a good-looking kid or what?
We added two more kites to the sky - Nicole's and Jonathan's.
Wow, look at those clouds! We were testing out Ben Franklin's story. Actually it didn't seem that dark at the time and it wasn't thundering. In fact it was nice not to have the sun in our eyes.
Nicole's kite was really high. And while the boys were struggling with their kites, she was figuring out how to steer hers back and forth.
And upside down!
I love this picture. Greg asked, "Nicole, where's your kite?" Nicole guided his head.
And of course no kite flying is complete without getting at least one stuck in the tree.
Luckily it was a short tree and Dad saved it.
Long after the boys got bored, Nicole and I were still flying our kites.
It's so nice to have play-outside weather again!

I LOVE flying kites! Sadly the wind around our house isn't too conducive to really good long kite flights. too gusty I guess. I grew up right on the edge of a plateau (that's what I called it, it was flat on top and it was surrounded by canyons below) and it was PERFECT for kites! Now I have to plan a kite flying vacation.
...now i wanna get a kite and bring it to oakley! I have a good kite at my parents house, like made of nylon or something--flying kites is hard in PA because of all the trees.
now you need to watch that movie ( is it mary poppins??) where they sing the "let's go fly a kite, up to the highest height" song...
Rachel, that's where I got my title from. Kate, come play here! We can all have a kite party.
Now I want to buy some kites to fly with my kids :) What a fun activity to do together. What a sweet sister Nicole is. Also, I never win when I play Monopoly, maybe you could give an amateur some tips.
