Baby Bites

Josh is four months old and received the go-ahead from the doctor to start eating baby food. Big day!

This was his first bite of peas. He swallowed it right down. I'm a little suspicious that somebody has been sneaking into our house and feeding our baby. Josh gobbled up the whole container without spitting any out. He didn't even get any on his bib - until he grabbed the bib and shoved it into his mouth.

Way to go, messy boy! That's what Mom gets for trying to run the spoon and the camera at the same time. Jonathan had convinced me that we didn't need to wait for Dad to feed Josh for the first time. (The kids also convinced me that they should each get a small taste of the baby food. They weren't impressed.)

So here we are the next day, with Mom running the spoon and Dad running the camera. Josh was kicking his feet with excitement when we put him in the high chair again.

Yum!

In case that's not a close enough shot of the peas for you, here's a better one:

Josh is SO fun to watch when he eats. His eyebrows go up and down - I guess because it's the most interesting thing that's ever happened to him.

His only complaint was that he wanted to hold the spoon.

Here's our happy Joshua, with a full belly. (And only one tiny drip on his bib.) In the week and a half since he started, Josh has also eaten carrots, sweet potatoes, and squash. Next up are applesauce and baby cereal. It's an exciting new world. Imagine how happy he'll be when he gets to eat REAL food!
