Joshie's Birthday

Look who just had his first birthday!  I can't believe little Joshie is a year old already. He is still crawling and barely got his first teeth. But the calendar says he's a year old, so I guess we can't argue. Josh is such a silly boy to be around and his siblings couldn't possibly love him any more than they do.

We had a fun little party for Josh. He even kept his hat on for awhile.

Josh was actually really good at opening presents. He's probably been watching his brothers.

Each of the kids wrapped a present for him. Most of them were re-gifted toys, so we all had a good laugh as Josh opened them. This stuffed yellow chick is one that *I* got when I was a baby. It was nice of Nicole to give it to him.

Josh was excited to finally open his big present. He had spent all day climbing over it.

So we opened it - and then he climbed over it a few more times.

Time for cake!  I have looked forward to my baby's first birthday cake for a long time. I'm a stickler about not giving him sugar before he's a year old. (It might turn him into a gremlin or something.)  So when it was time to break out the birthday cake, it was a pretty big event. The other kids were SO excited.

At first it seemed like Josh was going to dig right in.

But he didn't. Maybe those sprinkles look suspicious.

He poked at it. Tried a little frosting. Poked some more.  Finally we decided to help things along:

There! That's a happy baby.

After Josh's bath, the birthday party continued. More fun with the box.

Happy Birthday, Joshua! We sure love you, little bug.
