When It Rains It Pours

My family and friends have been keeping the hospitals in business the last few months. It's been crazy. Pondering this a few days ago, I asked myself, "What next?"

Well I need to start knocking on wood or something. Within the last 48 hours we've had four more occurences. Ranging from my grandma, almost 90, who's in the hospital with vertigo (a nightmare from my past, as you may know), to a friend's baby (the one I made the blanket for) who is at Primary Children's NICU - another nightmare from my past. Those are two of the many interesting stories I could share.

Keep in mind that I'm not having a pity party here. None of these things are happening to ME. Can't I take away some of the misery from these people?

How about this one. Oh wait, if you're squeamish at all, maybe you shouldn't look at this next x-ray. Last night my brother shot a nail through his hand with a nailgun. I'm not sure that "ouch" describes it:

He has big hands, so pay attention to all the light areas, not just the bones. The nail is between the thumb and pointer finger, the fleshy part, from the top of his hand through to the palm. They had to cut his glove off to get the nail out. Luckily it missed the nerve that would have paralyzed his hand, but it did splinter the bone, as you can see in the picture where the little red arrow is. The doctor took the nail out, stuck a swab in to disinfect, gave him several shots, and today my brother is working on their house again. The email they sent to show us this x-ray was titled "Don't play with guns." Humor is life's best medicine. (By the way, he has a lot of experience building and it was an accident that could have turned out MUCH worse.)

That's the only picture I have to show from everybody's infirmities. I definitely have a perspective of awareness this Thanksgiving. With all that goes wrong, there is so much that goes right every day.

But I do think you should consider yourself warned. Knowing me is bad luck.

On a positive note, it looks like everyone is going to be okay. I've said a lot of prayers and learned a lot from their experiences. That hardly seems fair but I suppose that's life. I am thankful for many, many things.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Someone should explain to your brother what it means to "get your nails done." The English language can be so tricky.

Man, I GOT that email but it still hurts! And great minds think alike. Your background is very familiar. ;) Not sure which one went on first but hey its fun!
