It's like one of the cool machines on the Willy Wonka movie! (The classic version of the movie, not the freaky new one.) Get my contraption started and it makes all kinds of neat gurgles - then out comes the good stuff. But I'm sure the Oompa Loompas would have thought of something more creative to call it than a steam juicer. I borrowed one a couple times but now I have my own. Let the fun begin!
Grapes go in the top part. Boiling water goes in the bottom part. Steamy steamy and out comes the juice!
Doesn't it look happy? (His smile is the reflection of the drawer. I guess you could have figured that out.) Please excuse the cluttered utensil drawer - I had to move everything over and VOILA I have a juice-catching shelf.
Fill up the jars, and there you have it. Super yummy grape juice concentrate! I did forget to mention about twenty steps but you get the general idea. Each quart jar will make half a gallon of juice. We love it so much that we planted our own vineyard this year - which produced about 10 grapes total. (They were tasty.) I hope our cute baby vines mature a lot by next year! At least we have nice neighbors to subsidize us in the meantime.Time for grape jelly!

ps- If you're interested, do NOT buy a steam juicer online! I just went looking for a jelly recipe and saw the prices of steamers. Yikes. Mine was less than $50 at a local store. I don't want anyone thinking I spent $400 on my "new toy"!
I think you should rename your blog...domestic diva, just try and top ME!......
We hope we are looking at our future Christmas present there on the counter...and we sure don't mean the steamer, the smile on it looked sinister to us! We just like the juice. You guys are awesome and we love you!
Hey how do I get one of those jars allready done?? looks yummy!! I totally dont have patience for things like that..wish I did..so patient and handy you are, food and crafts...
wowie wow look at my sister!!! That's so cool! Steve would totally want one if he saw this. And I'd take the under $50 one, not the $400 one. :) You rock with all your canning and juicing and stuff.
how fun is that!! you are way too domesticated...you make us all look bad ;)
sounds yummy too!
what a fun new toy, future general relief society president. You are seriously amazing. Do you post this stuff to make me look bad? HA HA
I am so proud of the juice I did with my mom while I was in Oakley. Gage loves it! Looks like you have been busy.
That is exactly how we do it. I LOVE canning grape juice and I HATE canning most things. We have a tradition with the T's to can grape juice together every year. For about a week my MIL's house smells like Grape Hubba Bubba and the grand kids all get diarrhea from sneaking too many grapes. hahaha
You go girl though, you ARE the domestic DIVE, I agree!
I hope your grapes come in beautifully next year!
