Nature's Playground

Welcome to Shoshone Falls! They are on the Snake River, about 45 minutes from our house. The falls weren't going full force this day but it was still amazing to watch.

The kids loved how loud the waterfalls were. It was thrilling to walk down onto the lookout platform.

And of course the kids became most interested in watching the pigeons on the rocks below us.

The other lookout is at the bottom of a huge slope. One trip down wasn't enough. The boys kept running back up.

And running back down. Over and over and over again.

(This picture makes me giggle every time I see it. Zach is so animated. Click to enlarge.)

Then we drove to Dierkes Lake right around the corner. It was really pretty too. Greg was content sitting on the picnic table.  He was telling me all about the different things he saw.

The boys went for a closer look.  I thought Zach was pointing at a fish. But Ben told me later that Zach was just wanting to touch the water. (But that's the closest he ever got?)

Nicole feels the same way about pull-ups as I do. After we convinced her to let go for the 2-inch drop, she was so proud of herself. "Was I SO strong?" The playground by the lake kept them occupied for a long time.

Near the lake, the boys climbed all over a huge group of rocks. With all the closeup pictures I took, I forgot to take one at true distance to show how high they really climbed. We were impressed!

Our boys, on top of the world.

After this picture Zach asked "Can I jump?"  Mom and Dad both answered: "NONONONONONO!"  I don't know if he really meant it but my heart was racing for ten minutes afterward. In fact it is right now too, just from thinking about it.

Nicole found her own rocks to climb. She was so careful and cute to balance with her arms. That's my girl!

We stopped to watch Bambi for awhile.

We had a great Saturday morning. Here's my panoramic shot of the falls and river. I love living so close to so many beautiful sites. If you haven't been to Shoshone Falls before, you should!

It's just right over there.
