A Day in the Life of a Country Girl

Isn't this warm weather GREAT? Oh, there's ice on the grass. Hmm. Well it was warm for a couple days at least and I had so much fun in our yard. I weeded and tilled our raspberry row, planted three rose bushes, pruned six rose bushes, and planted 50 strawberry plants. I guess the hard part was preparing the soil for all that. If it ever warms up, I will plant the rest of the stuff that I'm trying to keep dormant in our basement. Grapes, lilies, blueberries, etc. I love having a big enough yard for all of this. Then there's the cats...

Isn't that sweet -- Two mother cats and a teeming mass of kittens? There are 10 of them there, to be exact, and that doesn't count the ones that were born a couple weeks ago. But it isn't as sweet as it looks.

It turns out that nature has problems with three mothers being in the same vicinity. If a baby kitten ends up nursing on the wrong mother, the jealous one decides to get revenge by stealing the other's kittens. Sometimes to hide under herself and sometimes to ditch on the other side of the garage, where it's left helpless until someone (that's me) hears it and rescues it. The three separate baskets weren't enough, so now they're locked away from each other. What a mess. Anyone want a beautiful mother cat with beautiful kittens?

Jonathan is registered for Kindergarten now. He did amazing on his readiness test and now all he needs to do is turn five. Of course he was mostly excited about the playground.

I was hoping to post a picture of Ben in his Mr. Incredible costume, but he won't let me. He was roped into it at a grand opening thing he went to for work. He didn't know about it ahead of time but he was a good sport and the pictures are great. I shouldn't have asked his permission to put them on, next time I'll just assume it's okay!

You have GOT TO "accidentally" post those Mr. Incredible photos!

I don't ever ask David permission. I just do it and then later say, "Have you seen my latest post/photo?"

There has been maybe two or three times when he's said "take that down, it's too much" or something to that effect, but I never did. He has since learned; he once saw on our camera a VERY embarrassing angled photo of him and he said "Please, don't ever post that online, ok? Please?" So, I didn't; I'll usually comply if he tells me beforehand, but if not...

(I did, however, end up printing out that embarrassing photo and making it into a birthday card for one of my little brothers. Good times!)

First I miss watching your garden grow. Second I was taugh a really good lesson my first year teaching school. I was told, "Don't ask permission, just ask for forgiveness." I'm with Adhis, I want to see those pictures. Maybe you could not ask permission to EMAIL them to me and Adhis. I promise I wont post then on my blog. I can't promise anything for Adhis though.

Yeah I don't trust Adhis. Sorry, Adhis. =o) I trust you as a person but not as a blogger, HA.

I showed Ben your comments, hoping it would change his mind. Nope. Maybe Adhis can figure out a way to blackmail him, she's good at that. Oh wait, it's me that's bad at that. Either way, HOW DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THE HIGH-SPEED THING?!?!?!

Maybe Jenn should sneak over to your house and dig up dirt on you so I can try to blackmail you again. Actually I think that's illegal, hmmm.

No, I understand if you just send the photos to Jenn.

Hey, Jenn, I'll trade you some chocolate and ice cream for any interesting photos you may receive in the future! ;)

Ooh Adhis is tricky!

Ben's here witnessing all of this. Well because I keep laughing out loud and he asks me why. It seems that we have come to an agreement... TBA

=o)

We never get to see pictures of Ben with his coworkers. How do we know he even has a job? Anyone can make their own business cards...
