I'm a Stalker

One of my favorite things about having a full size garden now IS - are you ready for this, it's kind of sad... I love bundling up the dried corn stalks and using them as Halloween/Thanksgiving decorations.

I always helped my mom do it for her yard and it was SUCH a pain but looks really cool. And that's not something you can buy at a store. (At least that I've seen, hmmm...) I EARNED the privelege of wearing these stalks on our front porch. They're out front, tied to our lamppost by the road too.
Ben was excited that we were finally able to grow substantial pumpkins. I've had rotten luck in the past. But this year was great and our favorites are the miniature pumpkins. All in all, it's not anything amazing, but I love the harvest-y feeling I get when I see our setup.
We put all of this up a month ago. The boys still go nuts over our "pirate skeleton treasure chest," which they seem to say all in one syllable. It lights up, blows up, and the pirate comes in and out of the chest. This picture was taken a month ago but I thought I should probably post it before Halloween rather than after.
We are having a major countdown to Halloween this year. The kids tried on their costumes and they are way too cute. The boys already know which houses we HAVE to go to for trick-or-treating. Three days to go! I've been waiting until today to open my bag of candy corns. Mmmm.... Happy Halloween Week to everyone!

I love the "stalker" look too. And your troll house cookies look very yummy.

Congrats on having another boy! We find out next week so I will keep you posted. I still need to announce it on my blog :).

What fun Halloween decorations! And congrats on getting another boy. That is awesome. :) I will have to try those cookies with Caden. He LOVES to help me cook. I hope things are going good for you. :)

Your house looks great! It is so cool that your corn can be used for corn on the cob and stalks for decorating! And look at all those pumpkins! Awesome. I can't wait until I get to have a garden.

Personally, I think your stalks look corny. Get it? No really, I'm jealous! i want to grow corn, but Jer thinks it would look trashy in my front flower beds. Go figure.

I'm so jealous of you porch set up. I have always like the corn stacks. And like you said you don't have to take them down until after thanksgiving and snow is falling.

Awesome! I grew corn once - all I got out of them was the decoration for Halloween. :) But it was worth! Your porch looks so awesome! And my kids could go crazy over the pirateskeletontreasurechest. :)

And I notice I'm your awesome sister Jaclyn. ;)
