I have a guest contributor today. Jonathan is going to dictate while I serve as scribe:
"The Troll Book is fun. I brought it home from school, from the school library. It has a recipe in it and if we cook it right, it will make the real Troll Cookies."
"Zach put the chocolate chips in. Mom put the peanut butter in. And I put in the rice crispies. In this picture I'm stirring it." (Notice Jonathan's new glasses!)
"These are the troll cookies. We put them on the pan and I got to help squeeze the scoop. I tasted it on the spoon and it was yummy. Then we put the pans in the fridge."
"Nicole stole the scooper and she was licking it. Mom came and took a picture of her. Then she took it away." (Mom is still not sure how Nicole got the scoop! Nicole got to eat a cookie later - with her bib on!)
"This is the recipe that is in the book. I took it back to the library. Mom wrote the recipe here so you can read it. It's really fun for kids to make. But kids can't make it all by themselves. They will want you to help them. Bye now!"Troll House Cookies
1/2 cup peanut butter
6 oz. chocolate chips
5 cups crispy cereal
Put peanut butter and chocolate chips in pan (or microwave bowl). Heat slowly and stir until melted. Mix in cereal gently. Drop cookies from spoon onto wax paper. Chill until set. Store leftovers in the fridge.
(Note: There is nothing gourmet about these, but the kids helped with every step and the cookies turned out yummy. Next time I'd use milk chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet. The kids ate their dinner SO fast that night so they could have the special treat they helped make. Couldn't be simpler!)
